Re: New Temperature Sending Unit issues
Did you check the sender ground to the block, Thermosats housing does not always ground to block, OEM gaskets have a copper rivet ro insure grounding of thermostat housing.
Sender ground to the block? Please forgive me but I don't quite understand how to do that.
Here are the steps I have taken so far.
- Verified gauge opertional by grounding at the battery, it pegged.
- Checked good ground connection from battery to block.
- Replaced Sender
-Tested both old and new sender with hot water. Ohms would not drop below 230 at 140 degrees. Manual says it should be between 127-152!!
Before I try a new sender, I need to do what you suggest and also what Don told me to do (test the connection with an ohm meter. You should show no resistance from the base of the sender to the block.) With the sender out, test resistance to the block with each lead on the meter?
And Clanton, it is VERY possible the gasket isn't OEM. Going to check that too.
THANKS!!!
I am not giving up.....
EDITED TO NOTE: I think I have it. Don and Clanton, your both telling me the same thing.... This all boils down to being properly grounded. Too dark now but I bet this gaslet is not OEM!
THANKS!
