sears 5hp not pumping water

I traded a old jetski for a small jon boat with a sears 5hp air cooled outboard.
The model number is 217 58521 The impeller is bad or what ever pumps the water in this thing nevert had a aircooled motor before. Two things where can i get the part. The guy i got it from had ran it a few time with it not pumping water. Dumb but not to bad of a guy. He keep telling me it is air cooled the water cools the exhuast. Not sure i belive thats all it cools so is it toast or can it be fixed with a new impeller. Aslo any more info on the motor would be great year maker so on

Welcome, Your motor is a 70 was built by Eska out of business about 24 years. It uses a tecumseh AV600 air cooled power head with a water cooled exhaust leg.Running without water cooling the leg is bad but usually not critical.You may find parts at certified partsa corp.May find part numbers at Sears parts .com or some such.
These motors are noisy,vibrate under powered and finicky. Refered to here as heart breakers.Lots of money,and time spent and usally little in return.

well That sucks i did the trade for the boat. So not to big of a downer. Is it worth even puttting as new impeller in it. Also what oil mix and oil should i run
