Hi I have a 86 regal 190 hp 4 cyl inboard mercruiser boat and engine, it stalls or dies when I put in gear, it does start up in neutral but thats it , I have had this happen last year when I was closing it up for the season and now wanted to start using it and found out if I disconect the two wires going to the port side of the engine where the throttle cables and shift cables are it will start and go into reverse, and forward without stalling, Now I now this is not safe so I wont use it that way , just found out that by doing this it works, what or where should I look to fix this, I have heard that the shifter at the drivers side may have some issues , or is it where the cables are, any info would be great , I want to fix this as cheaply as possible, cause I,m not working and just having a boat is great but I have done some repairs on this boat to make me thing its worth it , just cant pay some one $90 hr to do it , I do have a repair manual but it really doesnt go in to detail about this problem, thanks, Bruce
