For your under the gunwales rod holders what did you use for grommets? It looks like you've got some black pvc or rubber inserts so the aluminum doesn't scrape the poles.

I like the idea of mixing in some grey with the epoxy, I may have to do the same. Did you have any issues with the way you mixed it? Also what ratio did you use for that?

Ok a short update. I had to take a break from my baby, but well woth it we were moving. Now I have a two car garage and full r/v access down the side.
So done with the move so I got back to putting her back together. First the floor and decking all new wood and epoxy coated. Started with new wireing and fuse box

Now for the front deck all new wood 3/4" ply. I coverd them with fiberglass epoxy and tinted it gray. With no slip grip mixed in and paint flakes on top, and then a lite coat of clear. The dash is allso 3/4 ply epoxy, and tinted white. I will update what I have done with the floor in a day or two.

I used rustioluim clear coat real lite just to help the paint flakes hold it seems to be holding well after two days on the boat in shoes flake loss is minimal

Your top needs the back straps hooke up to tighten it up, boat looks great
I have a 18ft ss i/o i want to make a removable front deck like in the new lunds
and get rid of the lounge seats and put in four seats two moveable.I want a captains chair but unsure how that will work out with steering height.

the plan for the top is to make it 3" less in width and yes pull tighter. then fit the side and back curtins. I will be getting sewing lessons from a friend to do this one myself

Hi..I really like your method of doing the floor...and covering the fuses...looks
like you have the docking lights set up for a quick set-up or removal...
I've thought about mounting downriggers to the side rails of my starcraft...
are the mounting spots for the downriggers reinforced?? how well does the side rails handle the torque/ twist from a heavy weight on the downriggers???:D

Agameforus,

Any chance you could send me the dimensions for the cuts you made for the benches, floor, etc.? I'm doing the same project myself. Can't wait to get started now that I know it's possible to do a good job.
Thanks
Capn D

Re: 1974 starcraft 16' super sport

I love the boat and the pics! I have one also that had the same origional paint scheme, but was probably in worse shape. I restored mine in 2006 to a white/metallic aluminum finish and matched the 85hp Evinrude to it. I'll post some pics when I get a chance. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that likes to spend time on these old boats!!
