Hello this is my first post. I have reasearched the forums and have gained alot of information, but I am having trouble find the information I am looking for. My engine overheated and sized. I think after reading some of the posts my impeller pump went out. I have an OMC 400 190HP outdrive. I found an auto Ford 302 engine and I am swapping over all the marine rated parts and putting brass freeze plugs in it. When I removed the exhaust manifolds the port side almost had a hole in it from corrosion on the aft lug. The starboard side did not look that bad but I need to inspect it further. The boat has been in salt water most of the time. The guy I bought it from had it in the salt out of Westport WA and in Puget Sound. I have had it in the Sound about 4 times. I did not take it out much since I recently retired form the Air Force and was gone alot. I am trying to find at least the port side log style manifold and maybe a whole set. In my reasearch I know they do not make after market log style manifolds for my engine and I am not sure if there any conversion kits with the center risers will work on my engine. They are also very expensive. Any Help or information would be greatly appreciated. My wife wants the boat fixed and using is or sold. I would like to get it fixed, but I do not want to spend a foutune either.
If I had know about this site with the research I have done I am sure I would not have bought this boat in the first place.

Re: 1977 Sea-ray 200 Ford 302 exhaust manifolds

I had looked at the ebasicpower web site and seen the manifolds in the link but was not sure if they would fit. I added up the prices of what I would need and WOW! I also had found a conversion kit for a 302 but it said form 1991 and up, so I was not sure if they would work. The conversion kit I saw was I think $550 - $850. From my undersatnding a 302 or 351 manifold should fit either one, or were there differences in eairlier year motor's. I did not know what other brand boats might have used the same log style manifolds so I might be looking to see if someone is parting one out. If I used one of the conversion kits with the center risers do you know if the height of the riser would higher? I might have problems with my engine cover. Thanks for your reply Eric.

I have a set of osco center risers on my 1976 351w. They should absolutely fit a 302.

The manifolds are FLCR818 and the risers are CRR1.

They are no taller or wider than original OMG equipment.

Not to hijack but....I assume you removed the original OMC log style mani's as pictured in Eriks link http://bpi.ebasicpower.com/mm5/merch...26srch_mfg=1 ? Do these Osco Mani's give you anymore latitude to pull your valve covers than the OEM units?

Also, you didn't use the risor extentions? Your IH does not have any exhaust flappers like some later 800's had.

Lastly, did you have any issues in mating to your electric shift intermediate housing, ie, just longer 3" exhaust hose? I would also guess that you had to retain the castiron reducer on the port side connection?

Re: 1977 Sea-ray 200 Ford 302 exhaust manifolds

The Osco set up was on the boat when it came into my posession. A lot of butchery went into this thing , and I am in the process of finding and fixing problems.

When ever the set was installed, they made and installed two flat flanges with 3" OD stubs, that they mounted to the int housing. Off of the risers they used a piece of 3" x 6" hose to connect to a cast 90 fitting, then a piece of 3" x 8" hose to connect to the stub flanges at the int housing.

When I started running the boat hard, I found that I started burning hoses. I then found and purchased my spare / donor motor, int housing, outdrive.

That system still has the original OMC log stuff, and I noticed that they do not have lengths of hose but short couplings. In between is a massive cast fitting.

Being a welder by trade, I fabbed up two similar pieces using 2-1/2" schd 40 pipe and weld 90's. That has an OD of approx 3". I fabbed it so that it makes full contact with the riser and the int housing, and I just use a few short pieces of 3" hose as couplings.

That set up has not failed me yet.( I said as I started knocking on my wooden bench)

I have the water pump in the outdrive routed normally through the therm housing and the excess going into the fronts of the manifolds. I have a crank mounted pump dumping directly into the rear of the manifolds. After running at any rpm, I can place my hand on the manifold or riser and keep it there.

I know its over kill, but it works so far ( knocking again).

The one bad thing is that I do need to drop the manifols to get into the valve covers. I have tried to fab up long bolts ( hot rod style) but the angle of the cover to the angle of the manifolds just won't allow it. I can get the cover bolts out with a flexible extension, but just can't get the cover bolts back in.

Re: 1977 Sea-ray 200 Ford 302 exhaust manifolds

I think I might have found some original manifolds off of craigs list with in 30 min of my house. I call and the guy said they had the risers coming off the aft end of the manifold like my old ones. I am going to take a look at them and if in good shape replace both of the while I am doing this. Thanks for the replies and the web sites I may have to go back to them but we will see.
