Re: Life Jackets while docked?

the pfd should be a given, how many kids would be alive today if they would not have drowned in the pool. It is not the distance or depth it is the fact that parents can see everything.

NAZI aint a cool word

Never been worried here about being cool. I unfortunately have to deal with facts, not wishes. You may want to look at post #2 and your post #20 and review exactly what you think you know about CA law ....

Re: Life Jackets while docked?

Please quote where I ever gave ANYONE the idea it was OK to endanger their child. :)

Scipper77 asked a question and I responded to it. I am very sorry about any loss you may have suffered due to boating, but you seem to be on a fanatical vendetta towards Scipper77. All he did was ask a simple question in an attempt to gain information he could use discussing his situation with his wife.

Put your money where your keyboard is, sell your boat if safety means that much to you ........

ok do you actually read what people post, or do you just make it up in your head?

HE NEVER GAVE HIM ADVICE, he quoted the laws of NY and CA, and posted the links to both of them.

Re: Life Jackets while docked?

LMAO this thread gave me a chuckle.

Me too! I just hope the mods take the time to way in there opinions before closing this down for the circus it has become.

BTW, my 2 year old is not allowed to take his pfd off even if he is on the dock or shore. But my 6 month old can not even crawl. If I put him in his car seat (not strapped in of course) he is trapped. There is no mobility whatsoever. Basically the real safety issue I am concerned about with him is boarding without the pfd. One slip and we have a baby in the water. When he can crawl this whole thread becomes obsolete as he will have the PFD on from the time he leaves the truck.

If your wife trips instinct will be to stretch out her arm to break her fall, or what if she fall over board,or off the dock. your infant will drown. a high collared pfd will protect and provide the mat for your infant to lie on for the baby needs.

Re: Life Jackets while docked?

This whole time there was a Sheriff and a coast guard boat about 100 yards away from us talking to each other.

My question is just that. Do children need to wear PFD's while docked? I'm in New York state if that is relevant.

I would have just walked over and asked them what they thought about it. Sure fire way to find out the correct answer, and on the spot. Plus, I dont see how the wife could argue with the Officers if she was in the wrong. i have no problem asking rangers questions, and i tell my kids to do the same. if you have a question, just ask them, thats part of what they are there for.

That was my original thought as well. They were on the water in there respective boats and had dispersed by the time we were done eating. I have a healthy respect for the law and am not shy about having "cops" around me. My best friend is an officer.
