Steering cable

Newbie here trying to build my first center console from a 14" aluminum boat.
I picked up a 25 mercury and my 1st questions are... Where can I find steering wheel and cables? Are they all the same except for length? or do I need to find one specifically for a model 25 Mercury? Thanks. Brian

Depends. Do you have a "tilt tube" system on your Merc. If not you need an adapter for the push/pull cable and a steering arm. Call i boats they will walk you through it.

Never delt with boats or motors before. Seems like a tilt tube.. Looks like cable goes through the tube in front of the motor and the steering rod connects to the end of the cable that sticks out and then connects to the center of the front of motor. That seem right? Thanks. Brian
