I have a Mercruser 165, she idles great even when cold but warmed up or not she dies when i put it in gear without giving it gas. She will still go slow for a no wake but if i dont get into the gas right away she will die. Should I turn up the idle on the carb? Any other thoughts?

Inspect the carb to see if the choke is operating properly, the mounting hardware is tight. and any hoses are on right.

Check to see if the Pcv valve moves freely.

For starters that is

The engine should idle around 550 in gear.

Look the engine over real good to see if anything has fallen of or is loose.

See if your kill switch (micro switch) Back of the engine is adjusted right and not shutting the engine down.
