Just aquired a 1992 pontoon with a 60 hp tracker. It ran out good, but after sitting at the dock a few days it seems a little tempermental at idle and transitioning into gear, dies alot. It still runs great going down the lake. It starts right up and the tach reads about 900, It'll idle fine until I move the throttle, I have to move the throttle pretty quick to assure I'm gonna move if I don't it'll die everytime. I have a lot of throttle movment to get to 1200. Is there an adjustment I can make to get me around (family just wants to go) I plan on running pre-mix and disabling the VRO system.

Re: 1992 60 hp tracker has idle problem

play in normal, as part of the distance is the shifting. 99% clogging low speed jets or pick up, or idle set too low. what are your idle rpms, in gear? you have to fine to your idle speed with the motor in gear.

VRO conversion w/ pump still working

if the fuel side on your Pump is still working it is very simple. unplug the 2 line harness going to the oil tank, unplug the 3 or 4 wire harness, going to the Vro pump. cut and cap the oil line going into the motor. add oil to fuel tank, mix well, then remove fuel line at top carb, catching gas in a container, pump the fuel line bulb until you get premixed gas to the carb. you can tell as it will change color. put line back on carb, and go boating

When I go into gear the idle will remain at 900, if it doesn't die, then a little more movement it dies. if I move the throttle quickly I can hold it at 1200.
