We were supposed to buy a 2000 sea hunt 200 d/c today. But the summer help took it out yesterday and the bunk came loose and he scratch the front port side. They said it is a 5-6 inch scratch they will fix.Does anyone have any thoughts about buying a repaired boat. This is a dealer and they are taking it to a shop to fix it.Would you buy it??

If it were me, I would go and see the damage before it's repaired... If it's just a thin scratch it's repairable IMO... But one person's 5-6 inch scratch is another person's 1 1/2 foot gouge...

JMHO...

since you know that it has damage, you can work a better deal. Id ask around about the shop doing the repairs to see if you can find out how good their work is, and go from there.

If it truly is a scratch they can buff it out. If it penetrated the gel coat that is another where I would want to know how deep and how they are going to repair. I would also get some type of warranty on the repair.

Just go to Oops thread in the Restoration section. Anything can be repaired and I wouldn't worry at all about a true scratch. I have Gelcoat repaired a few through to the glass. They stand up well, a good color match and you can't even tell.

I would work them on price though . . .
