i have a 1984 malibu 20 ft low profile open bow ski boat, i guess its a flat bottom since theres not really a deep v. it has a 305 chevy with a omc stinger, non adjustable trim.according to i boats search on it is a whopping 2300#s, which does not include aftermarket accys, passengers, or fuel. the boat had a width of 90 inches i carry usually 4-5 people, 20 gallons gas 30 when full, 2 batteries, about 100#s gear saftey, and fishing. ive had the boat up to 55 and the rpms were between 4300 and 4500. does that sound right? anyways i have a problem getting the boat to plane at lower speed below 20 mph will a prop help? i have no idea about the current prop other that it is a 3 blade, alum and white. i have 2 other props one is another unknown no marking alum its white too, and a ss 3 blade 14x19. i need to get this thing to plane down faster at a lower speed so i can tow the kids on the tube at a safe speed. i have no idea where to start on size or pitch . can anyone help to point me in which size and pitch to start with im gonna use a 4 blade. what is the difference between the solas amita and rubex? thanks again for help

66, you need to take the prop you are running right now off the boat and find the diameter and pitch, look on the side of the prop, underneath the prop nut or in the back of the prop. Or bring it to a prop shop and have them tell you, they have equipment that will measure it. Then get back with us and we will get the rest of the information we need.

Re: another need prop help thread

im looking for a prop shop in my area the other alum spare prop that i have is a 15x17p is says cup after the numbers its the michigan wheel number 011007. one guy said the prop is too beat up to get a good reading off it, i think he just didnt want to do it. i remember when i bought the boat the guy said it was a exact replacement spare. the only markings on the current on the drive prop is "PS" there is nothing more. should i put on the 15x17 and go from there while in my search of another shop? thanks for the help.

Mustang, use the SS 19" pitch and give us the WOT RPM and speed with that. I need to know the horsepower and gear ratio as well.
