1969 johnson 85 horse wont start in the water

It runs great at home with ear muffs & also runs great at the launch ramps but when you try to restart after a few minutes no power to the starter. I can pop the top and jump the silanoid and it fires right up, please help.

it sounds like you have a short in the ignition wires. i would be doing some ohm testing if i were you. i would guess it is somewhere near the wire harness where it plugs to the engine harness.
