Hello,

New to boating,

Just bought a boat with a 1992 115 Merc

When starting the motor for the first time of the day, with choke, it takes about 2-3 trys to get her started (which I think is normal).

However after running it for a while and then turning it off for 20 min. or so the start up has taken up to 5-6 trys to get it started again. Sometimes it starts on the first try, other times its the 3rd, 4th or 5th try??

Is this normal for this engine....is it something to be concerned about?

Thank you

Chris

have you tried pumping the primer bulb to make sure the fuel is there?

somtimes the pump gets hard ( in 2-3 pumps)....so i disconnect it from the motor and push the pin to drain some fuel ......could it be flooding when i turn the engine off?

why would you disconnect it? you want the bulb to get hard. i wouldn't suspect flooding unless you have fuel saturated spark plugs or fuel is draining from carbs.

Seems like it doesn?t want to start when the ball is hard,

after I drain it, it usually starts up

When you start it warm, do you use the choke? Do you use the fast idle?
Is your starting technque the same for a warm start, as it is for a cold one?
