Re: tilt and trim motor question

You can try installing the brushes and holding them inplace with garbage ties, slide the cap over the armature, and release the ties.

Re: tilt and trim motor question

If you are lucky you can pull the armature and housing out without loosing the coupling on the other end. put the springs and brushes back on on the bench using small screwdriver or other small tool to hold the brushes or dental floss that you can just slip out. Make a tool form a small piece of sheet metal with a slot in it just large enough to clear the shaft. put it on bottom end to hold armature in place put back on res. and slide out the plate. (Basic instruction) You need to line up the coupler etc.

In other words, if you have to ask how to get it back together, you shouldn't have taken it apart, but hey this is how we learn.

Yes it is a pain in the butt to put back together.
