I have problem with motor shutting down whether at wot or just cruising. Had the little woman drive the boat while I squeezed primer bulb, and it never happened again as long as i kept squeezing bulb. So, I believe it is fuel related.
I have changed all fuel lines, added a fuel separtor filter, rebuilt carbs, and did away with oil side of VRO and went to premix.
The only thing I did not do was replace the pulse line or rebuild fuel side of Vro pump. I would say it would be the pump, just would like a second opinion.

One more thing, My volt meter on the dash and on my fish finder both go up in voltage when running, I have seen the voltage as high as 16.9 volts. Just wondering if this is normal.
Thanks for the information, This site has helped me a lot.
And the shipping on parts here have super fast and much appreciated.

Dont happen to know the kit number here on Iboats to interchange with the fuel side of an original vro pump do ya? Did not a kit number on shop evinrude to interchange with. Wondering which kit it might be. What about the voltage is going that high normal?

Re: 1984 90hp

Engines with power trim have voltage regulator/rectifiers. When functioning properly, they should permit the charge rate to rise to around 13.5 volts. If the engine does not have power trim (these models have the rectifier only) the voltage will normally rise to 16-17 volts. So, you either have a model without power trim, or the rectifier/regulator is bad. (Having said that, the battery is still being recharged.) Bombardier makes a replacement fuel pump which has no oil side to the pump. It is quite a bit cheaper than their premix pump.

Sure sounds like the fuel pump to me. Personally I would replace with a premix pump rather than re-build.

Ok, when replacing fuel pump with mallory 9-35352, I no longer need the short hose with the flame arrestor right?. Correct me if I am wrong.
