need help with alpha one outdrive

i know you have herd this before an i habve read olot of it my self but still having problems my out drive is not fully ingadging in reverse the male an femele shoe on the back of the outdrive are on right its like it wont push it over anough to get it fully in reverse please help thanks

did you try looking at the manual and adjusting the shift cable?

ive tried everything the shoe just wont push the shift shaft over to stay in reverse forward is fine if i adjust the cable i can just get it to catch a litle but then im way off on forward did have outdrive off just replaced the engine an i was having some problems before just not as bad

try removing the lower shift cable from the shift plate inside the boat. then try to shift it. it should move nice and smooth. when the prop locks ccw, that's fwd. when the prop locks cw, that's rev. neutral is half way in between. if it don't meet that criteria. remove the drive and try shifting it manually from the shift shaft coupler. shift shaft shoe straight fwd. is fwd. prop locks ccw. shift shaft coupler all the way to port is rev. prop locks cw. half way in between is neutral. if the drive shifts proper on the bench, i'd think shift cable replacement time.. if it still don't shift proper on the bench. further investigation into the drive will likely be next. judging by past posts. lower shift cable is a reg. item to go bad after time...

im thinking the same thing ziggy the shift cable the outdrive is fine i check it the cable does move but im thinking it might of just streched i was reading about changing the cable do i need that special 9/16 socket to this job an is it real complicated
