Re: Gonna sell it...need a price

If you were here you could probably get $5500 for it. Boat prices here are ridiculous for boats that look 1/3 as good as yours. If I could make the drive I'd give you $3000 cash on the spot for that thing and we'd both walk away happy. Good luck!

my wife says if you will come and get it she wont charge a delivery fee.

That would be the next logistics issue right now... I don't think I'm allowed across the border just yet lol

I COULD send the girlfriend though... hmmmm.

Actually, you'd be surprised at the number of people in Canada that can make the trip and wouldn't think twice about it. I'd broaden my horizons a little and maybe post on CL in Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg and the Greater Toronto area. It's free and DEFINITELY worth a shot.

Re: Gonna sell it...need a price

so sorry to do that hopeshefloats. i have just learned that i really enjoy fixing the boats. dont get me wrong...being on the water is like nothing else i do...its my passion. however, restoring is kind of relaxing to me...my escape from everything going on "in" the house...lol. :D

ultimately i would like to keep every boat i restore. right now i just dont have the time or money. im only 29 years old so i believe i have plenty of time to acquire many more boats and fix them to my liking.

i cant wait to see yours finished! i really like the white vinyl...classic!

Selling stuff on Craigslist, ebay, etc it's all about thorough description and PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES. If you use Craigslists default way of adding pictures to your ad it shrinks them down fairly small and low quality. However you can put a link to another web site with high quality pictures (like photobucket) in your ad. A couple short videos of the motor running, boat getting on plane, etc. I think would really help also. You can put video on photobucket as well. You can still ad the 1-4 small pictures using Craigslist (you may to do that so the "pics" icon shows up next to your listing) but include a link to a better album. Anything that clearly conveys that your boat is ready for the water. Good luck. I don't think you're the only one on this board for whom the restoration is at least half of the hobby to them.

thanks for the link idea. i guess i should have thought of that. its kindof like telling your wife what you want for christmas...all year long its "i want this i want that" but when she asks "what do you want for christmas?"...uhhh.

ill get some video of it plaining out and whatnot this weekend.

again thanks for the ideas. im soaking all of this in...feeling like im gonna be obliged to pay commissions before its said and done. :D

Re: Gonna sell it...need a price

I know how you feel, these are the worst, but that's the pain about selling a boat, you'll see a few of those ******, you have to screen them.

I sold a BassBoat two weeks ago, the guy drove six hours to pick it up, he really wanted it and I refused to show my boat to guys that I knew just from talking to the phone, that they were not interested. But did waste my time with a few.

The worst for me is this guy that will tell out loud every little nick and nacs about your boat and then make you a ridicule offer:mad::mad::mad:

Good video BTW

Marc..

Re: Gonna sell it...need a price

my wife says i was rude . i explained to her that i had lots of time and hard work in that boat. if i wanted 1500 for it i would have it listed for 1500 not 3500. the best way to explain it to her was that she spent months and 5000 dollars of my money to decorate the living room and then someone comes in and tells her she needs to hire a decorator.

she understood...:D

Man that is too bad...I can't stand people like that. You did an outstanding job on the resto and I sure hope that whoever buys her gives her a good home.

Cheers,
Kyle

Re: Gonna sell it...need a price

I'd part it out like this:

- Motor and controls $2500
- Boat alone $800
- Trailer $800

Total: $4100.

I can't agree with the venerable Mark42 on this one. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It's a matched set. $2500 for the motor???

Check out the lastet edition of Boating magazine. There's an article about the "Revival of the Outboard Runabout".

Good luck! You've got a cool little ship.

Re: Gonna sell it...need a price

Unfortunately that type of low-ball offer is the nature of the market in this economy. People see houses, cars and boats going cheap as alot of people need to sell just to survive, and they seem to expect that everything that's for sale right now is being sold by a desperate seller. Also since I have been following my local CL all summer I have watched some really great boats get marked down to a ridiculous price just to get them sold, many buyers just want something for near nothing and do not realize the value of an older restored boat. But I have also seen some really bad boats that were priced crazy high, so it can go both ways. I could see you getting $2500, and would start at $3500 so you have a little haggle room and so they feel they got a deal on it. You should always ask a little more rather than just saying your price is "FIRM", that my way or the highway attitude of the "firm price" seller offends lots of potential buyers, remember "marketing" is your biggest friend as a seller.;)

Don't get too upset and take it personal over those low offers as many times the amount offered is just all they have to spend and they are taking a chance that you might say yes... Unless of course you can tell their being a jerk, then by all means you are welcome to escort them to the end of your driveway and give them a swift kick in the rear...lol :p

Re: Gonna sell it...need a price

all right here they are...lol. BAS...hilarious!

i got this one for $800. im pretty sure the motor is worth that. its a 84 fisher all aluminum with a 35hp merc. it needs a starter (already ordered) but we took it to the lake with a pull rope. ran pretty good but could use a tune up. this one ill probably keep for fishing. cant beat the aluminum for those pesky shallows.

this one is hopefully gonna be the money maker. its a 94 blazer pro-v 190 with a 150hp mariner. the guy i got it fromjust got divorced and said if he didnt sell it that she would take it. when i asked him what he wanted for it he told me his part of the divorce would cost $1400. he asked if i could give him $1500 so he could at least get drunk while i hauled it off. i told him i felt like i could oblige him on that.

youll notice the wheel on the deck there...not the spare. the front axle on the drivers side needs new bearings but luckily the spindle is in good shape. as far as the boat goes...all is good...just needs a little clean up. he thought the motor was hosed, come to find out, his son put premixed gas in it and messed up the filter. new filter on the way. check it out!

Well I fortunately I do not suffer from MBS. I have absolutely no place to store multiple boats. However, if I did have MBS it would be to acquire a dedicated fishing boat like the one you just got. There are a number of shallow areas of the river I'd love to fish but wouldn't dream of taking my boat there.
