Sounds like something fuel related. Check the filter screen in the fuel pump inlet cover, fuel pump diaphragm. Maybe a needle valve in the carb that's sticking.

If you haven't decarbed in a while, do so now.

Next, you don't mention adjusting your mixture screws. These engines need tuning as they wear. Your setting from 1989 will not be the same as your 2009 settings. You need to adjust the carbs.

After you decarb and adjust the carbs, go out and pull a hole shot.

Let us know how it acts.

i have put quick cleen in the fuel, but i haven't sprayed any power tune into it yet. last night i did check the fuel mixture screws. they were a little more then 1 turn out. so i reset them to 1 turn out. i did by some seafoam, should put a concetrated amount in the fuel and let it run on ear muffs?

Go to the FAQ at the beginning of the maintenance forums. On the second page is the instructions for doing a decarb. Follow them and you will be set to go.

i went home and ran the motoer with muffs on and noticed that gas was running out of the middle card. it was coming from a small like pilot hole on the top half of the card. it was on the passenger side. it was brass colored and hollow. so i took and blew some air into it and it pushed gas out another hole on the oppisite side. it seemed to stop the leaking. i will take it out tommorow and see if it runs better.

Either needle valve is bad or float is set too high on that carb. Could also have been a piece of crud that prevented the needle valve from seating properly. Do you have an inline filter between the fuel pump and carbs?

You need to tear that carb down and either adjust the float level or clean the gunk that's in it. YOu shouldn't keep running it that was as it is a fire hazard.
