I just went out this morning to test out my 1956 Evinrude Fleetwin 10hp motor. I bought this motor a year and a half ago to use on hp restricted lakes. So I finally got this motor running during the summer and went out for the first time today to test it.

I wanted to put up these performance numbers for those of you who wonder like me how these old motors should perform. Also for those of you know, it'd be greatly appreciated to see if these numbers are respectable.

So to begin, here's some info:

Motor: 1956 Evinrude Fleetwin, 10hp
Rig: Modified 1976 Lund s-14
Beam: 65 inches
Depth at rear bench: about 20-21 inches
Maximum depth: about 23-24 inches
Modifications:
1. Added front casting deck with hatch and a small raised deck for bow mount trolling motor (covered in carpet)
2. Cut out hatch in middle bench seat and installed battery and built hatch door.
3. Mounted bow mount trolling motor
4. Built small console and attached to rear bench seat.
5. Mounted humminbird depth finder on transom and on trolling motor.
6. added lighting
7. added cleats.

Total weight of rig with modifications, motors, pressure tank, 3 gallons fuel, gear, and myself: about 725 lbs.

Performance numbers: Average top speed at wot-about 12-12.5 mph. Fastest speed recorded-13.5 mph Trim was at the second hole closest to the transom (may not have been trimmed optimally).

Again, for those who have 1950's motors or any motors in the 10hp range, please chime in to give a reference.

Thanks

Re: performance test

Might want to confirm which motor you have. The Fleetwin models were 7.5 horsepower. The Sportwin was the 10...

Re: performance test

Sorry, was getting the names mixed up. (have a 7.5 hp as well I am working on). I forget, but I'm not sure if it's a speedtwin or sportwin. It's one or the other, but it's 10hp.
