89 Yamaha 70hp thermostat?

I do not have an owners manual for my 89 yamaha 70hp outboard, but I would like to know if anyone knows whether or not this motor has a thermostat and if so where is it located? I am troubleshooting an overheat alarm and had just replaced the water pump (which was missing a blade) and would also like to change out the thermostat to rule that out as well. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Did you ever do this? i have not water from the pee hole (same 70 hp etlf 1989) checked the impeller, looked fine but changing anyway. Where was the thermostat and was that your problem?

Sorry it's a year later, but I just realized I never replied with my solution to this problem for future viewers. Yes there is a thermostat and it is located on the port side at the very top and rear of the powerhead. There are 2 bolts holding the thermostat cover on. Once those are off the thermostat pops right out.
