help troubleshoot spark plugs

i have a 1986 johnson outboard 28 hp that will not spark. put in new plugs and disconnected kill switch, but have no idea how to test coils or points and condenser (if it even has). trying to find cheaper help than a $50 manual, hoping i came to the right place

any kind of troubleshooting help would be greatly appreciated
