I ordered my set of "factory blemish" SX tabs last night...cant wait! We got tired of the bow rise during acceleration and the porpoising when cruising. I cant wait, I know I will love em! I got excited and just wanted to share with you guys :D

Good on ya Bud,

I would love to put some on my boat but the ladder is in the way, the wife says, lets put a swim platform on her so you can put them on. Not sure if she will let me though when she sees the price of adding a platform. Not sure if a platform would fit on my boat either, but this is a topic for another thread I think.

Let us know how they work when you get them on, I am already jealous man!

I have a 1988 Wellcraft 192 Classic cuddy and the difference is night and day after installing my smart tabs. The bow stays where it is supposed to and the flat, stable feel of the boat was, like it was a different boat. I think you will like them. this is THE best 100 bucks you will ever drop on a boat.

I have been looking at them, and I finally received some financial relief so we decided to throw some money into the boat on some "wish list" items. Automatic bilge pump, trim tabs, tinting the windows, new trailer winch, etc. But the trim tabs are coming first lol.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but could you share with me what these things cost, and how easy/difficult are they to install?

$100, i think if you go to the iboats store and look them up theres a link to the installation instructions. pretty much just marking and drilling for the screws, then tightening it all up.

Thanks. I haven't spent much time looking into them, but I thought I read something about them being controlled hydraulically - that was scaring me off a bit. But if it's just screwing them in, I think even I could handle that.

its a hydraulic shock, but its self-adjusting so theres no lines or wires to run or anything. unless you want the switch-controlled ones, then thats a different story.

Re: Add me to the Smarttabs club!!!

I finally got to try out my Smart tabs, a month after I installed them. But, that's another story. As for the Smart tabs, they're great. Definitely quicker to plane and stays there longer, with less power.
I thought I remembered reading somewhere to set my motor back at the closest position to the transom with Smart tabs and adjust from there, if needed. Oooooweeee, that part I didn't like! Felt like she was going to roll over on me in even a slight turn to starboard and was really difficult to turn to port. Going straight she wanted to list to starboard and when I tried to accelerate I swear I heard a klaxon and someone yelling, "Dive, Dive!".
At first I was thinking I'd done something wrong with the Smart tabs installation. Then I remembered I'd changed my motor setting. I put it back where it was and all is right with the world! I guess a case of the ol', "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" axiom, eh!

My smart tabs have been in the truck of my car for a month. I need more than 24 hours in a day...

if i remember, didnt you have some pretty serious issues with your boat that came up though? thats understandable. if not, then no excuse you need to get out there and put them on :D

Re: Add me to the Smarttabs club!!!

I just took my boat out for the second time since installing the Smart Tabs, and getting rid of the whale tail on my outdrive. The difference is night vs day for me also. No more wandering at idle speeds, tracks straight as an arrow. Gets up on plane almost instantly, like a mid engine ski boat, and stays on plane at very slow speeds. Easier to steer the old beast. I think the hydrofoil was making it very hard to steer. Seems to be a smoother ride too...that could just be me being so happy.:)
After owning this boat for years and buying all sorts of crap for it, this is THE best 100 bucks i've ever dropped on my boat. I couldn't be happier.
Just thought I would share my experience.;)

You must be talking about the bent prop shaft? I've got all that figured out now. I actually bought these for my old boat, never installed them and still have them for the new boat.

I plan to install them on the new boat but haven't had time... I've actually been meaning to call naticus and see if I can get stiffer shocks as I bought these for the smaller boat. I believe the only difference in all the different models is the stiffness of the shock.

1990 sunbird omc 3.0 cobra I/0 sterndrive. Bought boat with whale tail already on. Every time went thru no wake area had to stay at 8mph just to counter the rear end skid. Tore off whale this weekend & install smart tab SX blems. Runs straight & true even at 3.5 mph & received the high seal of approval. Wife driving boat said "now it drives like a car, you did good." Peace & quiet rains supreme.
