It has been sugessted by a friend that I replace my water pump on a regular basis, even if there is nothing apparently wrong. Is this something everyone does?

Thanks

Re: Should you replace your water pump

I change mine every year.

i agree...

i ahvent changed mine for 2 years now but i've watched the water pressure and so far so good.... next season its getting changed....

my opinion, as long as you flush the motor after every use and watch the pressures you are fine for 2 seasons.... now thats my opinion....

recomended is every year.....

if its a new motor this is what you need to do:

change water pump, thermostat, lower unit oil, check compression, do a decarb or carb rebuild

every season: change water pump, lower unit oil, decarb

good lcuk

Thanks for the advice. I will replace mine the first chance I get.

I tune 'em until the'll run so slow you can count the spins, and if it's still pumping water, I'm ok with not changing the impeller. If it's been sitting for years, I'd replace it even if it performs like above.

Should be part of your routine maintenance.
