I have been following a few threads on this BB My boat has sat for a few years as I was running boats for others, When I went to start it , I got spudder but no real fire, I do not hear the pump come on when I turn the key, I have drained the vst and round filter on the side of the motor, hooked up freash fuel pumped the fuel bulbs and still nothing,
1.. if the filter in the vst is clogged with the hp pump not function
2. what should my next step be

Thanks

Ignition output but since you have the sputter you likely have it.High pressure fuel pump pressure should be around 40 psi.You are dealing with rancid fuel and need to purge that fuel system entirely.Get the boat fuel tank away from that engine and attach that engine to an another fuel source.Change all engine filters and purge away one step at a time until you are convinced that all rancid fuel is evacuated ,then try again. If you have ignition and adequate fuel pump pressure after all that you may have injector work in the future.

Thanks, I was hoping it wasn't the HP pump, do you think the fuel in the take is bad? is there a way to check? I bought some start tron to help with the purge,

How long has the fuel been sitting? I was just stranded 18 miles out due to bad fuel and had symptoms like you describe. I drained the vst and filled it 3 times, cleaned the fuel filter and had a friend turn the key as I depressed the schrader valve on the fuel rail emptying all the water and crap gas i sucked up. pumped about 2 gallons off the bottom of my tank and after a few tries it fired up and ran like crap for about 20 minutes then like a dream. Use fresh gas with an auxiliary tank to perform this because I am suspecting old varnished gas and water.

your HPDI has 3 fuel systems, low pressure lift pumps,2, a medium pressure electric in the VST and a high pressure mounted aft between the heads at the top of the block.
change both lift pumps, clean and test the VST pump, change the VST and medium pressure filter.
remove the injectors and send out for cleaning.
flush all lines and eails.
use the correct clamps on the medium pressure filter NOT regular hose clamps.
clean the O2 sensor and test the running output voltage.
this motor runs at the ragged edge of lean when running correctly, run it any leaner due to low fuel system pressure and you can then post about burned pistons.
low pressure fuel is about 6PSI medium a minimum of 50 PSI and a max of 55 PSI and high pressure about 625 PSI.
