Thanks, does the cool fuel system have its own filter also? The only filter I was aware of was the fuel filter / water separator.

Have you actually checked the fuel pressure yet? Have you done any testing from the manual? Have you even looked at section 5E of the manual?
There is a filter screen just under the pressure regulator.

the high pressure pump has an inlet screen as does the lift pump. some systems also used an inline filter between the water seperator and the fuel tank.
YOU MUST test the rail pressure at the problem RPM prior to anything being replaced.
use a systematic approach and it works.

Hello, another update I just tested the fuel pressure. It has 25 psi @ idle and 29 Psi @ 3500 RPM The manual calls for 30 ????

30psi at idle and load...?

if it is then the regulator is getting weak...you can tell the pump is fine by the rise in pressure

At idle it was 25 psi I measured 29 psi while revving it in the yard - not under load

no...what I meant was the book says it is suposed to be 30psi consistent?

sorry to confuse you...

I remember a post by a previous person that mentioned 28psi...?

any way I would check into the regulator if it is supposed to be 30psi at all ranges...

if it is fuel injected it has to have a regulator...

On a TBI it is in the TBI at the rear right inbetween both injectors...

Im confused, in the manual it says that a cool fuel system has a fuel damper whereas the vst system has a pressure regulator between the injectors?? Does the cool fuel system have a regulator somewhere else?

also check fuel volume many times pressure is good but no volume so load the motor and pull the trigger if it dies out look for a bad pump or clogged filter
