Re: 1973 18' Starcraft Super Sport

Also my attempt at walnut blasting turned up poor results. The compressor I am useing taps max pressure at 120psi. :( . So I deciced to use orbital sanding and attempt sand over the rivets. I just have to remeber next time I make a trip over to his house I do not forget my. Long pants! Ouch! Once I get sanded & primed I gonna bring it back to the house and roll on the white. Flip her over then start in with gluvit, reinstall new transom and get to the floor. I am thinking about taking a vacation week just to get something accomplished before the cold sets in, Nothing like what NB goes thru but sure slows down progress

LOL Okie I warned ya about the long pants and sleeves :D. on the primer dont worry about it till you get it home give it a good bath with 50/50 mix of vinegar and water and hit it with some Zinc Chromate doesnt take a heavy coat just a good heavy dusting .

Well I got back from the tournement late Sunday night. We ended up winning it. The fishing was slow for everyone on the lake. We just happened to find a good group of bass where no one was at. Earned enough to pay for expenses. The best prize is bragging rights until next year. I was tired Monday so I took it easy. Hope to get to sanding this weekend.

Following the thread. Any updates?
I have not worked on it much this last month. Deer season has interupted all other activities. I did get it sanded down and have put my first two coats on this week. I plan on having final coats on by Monday and wet sanding before thanksgiving.

Well I did get the final bottom coat on. Let it dry for 3 days. I flipped it back over and put it on the trailer to finish the sides. Well I forgot to replace one keel roller that was bad and it scratched the center keel about half way down the boat. Arghhhh! Well I figured after that I am not making a show piece! I am function over fashion anyday! I will just spot paint the scratch and carry on. The places I wil be putting this boat will probably have me repainting the bottom in a few years anyways.looks like the cold and moisture of winter is starting to set in here so I gonna have to move all work to the barn or just halt until spring. After all I still have deer tags to fill!

Not much update. Weather got cool so the painting halted until it warms up a little.( and stays there) I am gonna be laying out the new floor in the next month. I may have an oppurtunity in the spring to purchase a more up to date boat. If I do, this starcraft will be up for sale. Don't worry I will offer it here first if I do. We will see come febuary or march! Until then I am pressing on with the original plans for this boat. Also hope to have the puter problem fixed in the next couple weeks.

Ok boys and girls! It looks like I am getting my newer boat! So look for this one on the sale block. If you want an awesome boat to finish, now is your time! I wished I could keep it but I won't have enough room for three boats!

NB, and you still might see it finished especially if someone on here gets it! If I cannot pass it to the right person I will keep it. I will just have to store it at the lake property for now. The new boat is 1993 Procraft 180, since my tournament partners retired there regular jobs and are moving further south I gonna have to have my own bass boat. The procraft is a great boat. It has been garaged its whole life and operated by an elderly man that had no need to speed. 115 mariner on it. Like I said I don't have to sell, I just hate to see things sit!

Welcome to iboats! And welcome to the addiction! That speed is pretty average for the 85 on these boats! If I keep mine I would op for the larger 115. Virtually same weight but with a lil more grunt!

Well hopefully everyone will still get to see this boat finished, because I just bought it. Kinda cool to see the progress James made before I acquired it . Since I already have a good usable boat, I can take my time with this project. The only thing to get in my way is my fishn.
