I just picked this up in a sale, can anyone tell me the year of this vintage Evinrude. The numbers are 4407-03863. Also what is the value of this motor?

Thanks :)

NAH, it's good here.
1: buying an old motor thaat's going to be hard to get parts for, since the manufacturer is out of business.
2: Asking the HIGHLY subjective question of what it's worth.....The answer is....what you can convince someone to give you for it.....usually less than what you want, but more than their first bid. :D
3: Not posting a picture for analysis for reference the above.:D

All kidding aside there are just too many variables.
Good Luck,
HW:cool:

Hi BCBulldog,

Your number made me remember a motor we had hiding in the back.
5hp from 1945-46, Evinrude Zephyr made in Milwaukee WI.
You also taught me something more about the parts business. :)
I now know how to read that motors model and serial number tag.

4407 is the model number and 03863 is the serial.
Yours appears to be a 1.1hp from 1946-1947

I hate to say it, but you probably won't get any parts anywhere for this.
And as for value, $entimental. There are some collectors out there but the value is in the eye of the beholder.

You might be surprised that you can get parts for motors of that era. Sure, they are a little tougher to find than parts for a newer motor, say from the '70s or '80s, but they exist. For certain, less common parts, you will have to settle for NOS, or used parts. Heck, I know a boat dealer that keeps some parts on the shelf for my 1936 Evinrude.
