Re: Baja 235 Force water system issue

The first step is too check too see if the seawater pump, [rubber impeller] is good. It will be mounted too the engine block and it is belt driven And it will be as you are facing the engine from inside the boat looking down it will be on your left side, On the back side you will see two hoses going to it, some times the quickest way to see if the impeller is working or not is to try to safely feel the center of the impeller housing to see if it is getting warm/hot or running cool With water running to the drive and the engine on. Do not let the engine run longer then 50 seconds while doing this test or ever with out water if you really do not have water coming out the exhaust. And be carefull down there, This really should be one of those do not try this at home things.:) But really you should just replace the impeller as step one because that is the most common thing to go out, Also if the impeller is ripped a part you will need to trace the water hoses too the oil coolers and the thermostat and back flush the cooling system to remove the old rubber parts from the cooling system so it will not clog up and make the engine run hot even with a new impeller.Good luck with it.
