Hello to all,
I have pretty much exhausted all research I can including buying manuals to find the piston to bore clearance. I have the Clymer manual and it does not give it. Does anyone know what this clearance is. I have read several threads asking for this dimension but nobody directly answers this question. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 1989 150 GT johnson outboard (j150stlcem)

a good machine shop will have the correct info. it all depends on the certain situation. if you are going to work on this yourself, get a real manual, outboardbooks.com.

Yeah,
I was going to check to see if anyone knew this information before I spent $90 just to get a dimensional tolerance.

i would spend that money on a service manual, which will have that info and much more.

now you know why we do not recommend Clymer manuals.

So I talked to my local Johnson service mechanics. They said that the bore to piston clearance is .003-.005 for this engine. Just thought I would post for all those looking for this info. This is for a 1989 Johnson 150GT crossflow engine. Engine code J150STLCEM.
