my sisters boyfriend bought a 70 somthing jet boat not sure what brand...but my question is the floor needs to come up so before he puts the new floor in is it worth while to put spray in foam under it to make the bottom more solid ?

thanks

Re: have question

That's actually a complicated question.

Yes, the floor needs to come up if rotted. All the water in it is heavy and will hurt your performance, just laying wood over it feels solid but it's much heavier than it needs to be, which costs you speed and gas.

If you remove foam when you re-do the deck, you should replace it, although there's no law that says you have to.

Personally I leave the foam out of my boats, it just holds water in.

Your boat may NEED foam depending on how it's built... if foam was originally part of the structure, then it needs to go back in... not spray foam either, it has to be pourable polyurethane foam, which is cheaper by volume anyway.
