how to install outdrive

hi . can someone tell me how to install my omc cobra outdrive. please i cant not get the last two linches to go in .i feel the splines ingage in the cupler but dosnt want to go in any more ..thanks sam

If you look inside the spline on the outdrive, there will be a flat spot about 1/4" wide that has to line up with the engine spline.

Some times the drive stops at the o-rings. take the drive off and remove the o-rings and remove any grease that is in the grooves.Clean it good.Reinstall the o-rings and spray WD-40 on them.Make sure the gimbal is clean.Then make sure the alignment is correct.You might need a little bit of force to push the drive on.Something makes the o-rings swell or the tolerances are too tight.
You might need a 2x4 and a big hammer,remove the back cover and use the 2x4 and hammer(had to do this a hundred times on different drives).J
