I may go over and help a friend who has a 1977 Johnson 115hp. His boat was sort of boarded and someone tried to steal it.
What they did was mess with the ignition. The old p/n of the ignition is supposed to be 393301. I suppose it's similar to this:

The guy breaking in tried to use a screw driver and twisted it back and forth.
The guy who's boat it is tells me now that "now the boat won't start".
Probably a wire or two is off the switch. Sounds like it won't let the pinion come up and engage the starter flywheel. We're ordering a new switch.
Anyway, I need to go help him. What are the normal colors of wire on the switch? I would guess the "run" position has a wire going to the ignition. In
"start", there would be wire going to the ignition, and also a wire for the starter motor. If I can get those hooked where they ought to be, I have a feeling all will be well with it starting.
