The boat ran fine across the lake, then killed it and sat for a few minutes, but......when I crank the boat it is in full acceleration like the carbs are open, but they aren't. Throttle cable and linkage seem to be fine. Any ideas????
Thank You for any help!

When you start it are the butterflies on the carb wide open?

Re: Acceleration PROBLEM!

A vaccuum leak would cause more air/fuel into the engine causing it to run at a non-idle speed. I'd first suspect a linkage problem but you say there isn't one. Did you check the linkage to the plate under the flywheel and not just the carbs themselves? Cotter pin could have come loose??? Hard to troubleshoot a motor over the internet LOL

Re: Acceleration PROBLEM!

These engine's are very similar to a car engine or any engine for that matter, they all require spark, fuel , compression, air and timing. As soon as the word marine is thrown into the mix the level of confusion goes off the map. They are carbed engines for the most part, a technology that has been around since the first combustion engines. Complicated issues are usually simple fixes.
