I recently purchased an older boat that has an i/o.I am trying to fix some things before i put it in the water. The blower motor was shot so i have purchased a new one. Also all the duct work was ripped out.I am having trouble trying to figure out how to install the duct work. The blower itself has one 3 in. diamtere opening to attach the hose, the has two vents ,one in each of the back corners.Any kind of help on how to make this work is greatly appreciated.also is the blower designed to suck the fumes out?thanks again

I?m not real sure how your vents are set up, but I will try to give you a generic way of setting them up.
If the vents are on the side of the boat, one will scoop air while underway the other would only scoop air if you drove in reverse. The vent that scoops air while going forward needs a duct that dumps air into the engine bay. The one with reverse scoops gets a duct with the blower hooked up to it. Then you need an additional duct to feed into the deepest part of the bilge that hooks up to the blowers other end.
The blower sucks the gas vapors out of the engine bay. The other hose "dumps" fresh air while underway. Don?t forget to run the blower 4-5 minutes before starting. It also needs to run until you?re at cruising speed.

Re: blower motor ventilation

you should have some forward venting to supply air to the engine area/bilge. maybe not on your style of boat. check those hoses too if you have them.

the rear should be set up to draw air out of the engine area and blow it out the rear vents. the blowers i've seen are in-line style....hoses connect to each end. ...hose down deep in the bilge>blower>exhaust hose to the transom vents
