What Is Your Favorite Type of Music to Listen to While Cruising?

I was just curious. I know I like listening to some classic rock, give me some Skynyrd, ZZ Top, George Thorogood (sp?), etc. It always seems to fit the mood. Any opinions?

I ONLY listen to classic rock. everything from the beatles to def leppord.

And my favorite song for going fast is Dire Straights- Money for nothing

My stereo cost close to what the boat cost.. dual amfm/cd/mp3 4 6.5" 200 watts total. It is just enough to drown out the sound of the motor. Also got a satellite radio i use on the boat.

Classic rock from the 60's 70's and 80's with a few excdeptions for some blues, rap crap, and a some old county like Hank Jr or Johnny Cash and some other odd music tastes I have.
I also want to say I cant stand all this screaming crap rock and roll music bands now~em~days, pure rubbish.

There are very few good bands producing music IMO.

I was born in 1979 so thats where I'm coming from, good radio stations here in MKE and CHI.

While crusing in the boat - none. All I want to hear is the sound of the motor and whatever else can be heard above it. In fact, I wish I could figure out a way to make both the breeze and the motor super quiet at cruise, so I could hear wildlife.

At home, I listen to a pretty broad range of things. The only styles of music that I really don't like are metal, opera and some hip hop. I can listen to some country, but most of it is too "cookie cutter" for my tastes, so I don't often put it on. I do like a lot of jazz, R&B, classic rock, modern rock, 60's folk, funk, blues, etc. Stevie Ray to Miles Davis to Joni Mitchell to The Eagles to Robben Ford to Journey to Meshell Ndegeocello to Richard Bona to Cream to Prince to The Four Tops to Kazumi Watanabe to .... I wish I had a lot more money than I do, because I would have a music library that you could barely listen to in a lifetime. There is soooooo much good stuff out there!

Wow, so far all votes are classic rock. Boating must attract a certain crowd.. or iboats forums does. Too funny, though.

I'm out of touch with what rock is like now, as I stick between classic rock and NPR on the dial and nary stray. Someone let me know when the 90's comes back in style

born in 79, i like rock. old school, motley crue, def leppard, guns n roses, etc. but the kids and most company seem to prefer rap/rb stuff......i dont know, its all right after a while..... gotta make the girls happy i guess is what it comes donw to.....

Nothing but the pure sound of horsepower and wind while cruising and the sound of nature while anchored.

I want to hear what God intended for me to hear, not that crap that comes out of those people's mouths (supposed artists and musicians). Maybe, I'm just getting old.

I'm just as happy listening to nothing but the natural sounds around me. I can understand music if you are alone but with the family I find that it is a great time for conversation.

I've yet to install a stereo so I enjoy the sweet sounds of my 350 when underway, and the water lapping at my hull when I'm not under power.

In grad school, seemed we listened to a lot of Jimmy Buffet on the R/V

Nothing underway.....Country, oldies, 70's and 80's rock down low at anchor.
It torques me up when it's relatively quiet and somebody comes in with the stereo screaming So, I try to be very conciencious about my behavior affecting others.

Well I listen to a little bit of everything on the boat, but I definitely understand your point about people coming cruising into your area with radios blaring. Mine is only audible for people in my boat, I don't drown out everyone else's.

While fishing, swimming, anchored, trolling, whatever hehe

I have quite an extensive taste in music...

Listen to some 60's (beatles, stones, etc.)
Listen to some 70's (Fleetwood mac, some older rock, etc.)
Mainstream classic rock mostly...
Lots of 80's music, but not mainstream... mostly old school techno, industrial, punk, Gothic.. (but stuff you probably never heard of).
90's and up - heavy metal, hard rock, techno

I have about 1000+ songs on my ipod hehe and its all variety...

But no country, and for the love of god, ABSOLUTELY NO hip hop, R&B or Rap will ever come out of any music system I own

While Cruising you ask, I can't hear Nothing, I listen to hear if the engine miss a beat, I listen for submerged logs, I have VHF radio, on squelch, and listen for an emerg. situation. I want to know if the bilge pumps comes on when they shouldn't. Now while anchored, The MP3 player is on Random, I will listen to everything! Jazz, Rock, Country, Rap, Classical, or the figgon radio with news.....

I listen mainly to classic rock especially the hair bands.
Although I do have a special cruising cd:
1-Live and Let Die (I own a small carlson)
2-All Summer Long(Kid Rock)
3-Boats and Hoes (step brothers movie)
4-margaritaville
5-Escape (the pina colada song)
6-Drift Away
7-5 O'clock Somewhere
8-I can't drive 55
9-Metal Health
10-If I had a million dollars

I like all types of Rock!! Classic rock, Heavy metal, Rock and roll, Some of the new rock jams out too!!
We also bring a CD player for listening to while camping or on the beach mainly.
