Love me some Bob Marley. I met his son Ziggy(David) and Peter Tosh's son Andrew back in the late 80's. Those guys like to party. :D

My best friend and I were roommates on 39th street in OC MD in the late 80's through '91.
We were oceanside of coastal hwy, and the OC Convention center was bayside across from us.
They used to have the Reggae Sunsplash there and a few of the artists were walking to the beach.
Our crew was hanging on our porch, grilling fresh swordfish and tuna, and we offered them some.
It was ON then! We all had a good time that evening!

Andrew was on the bill, but Ziggy wasn't, he was a special guest.

Jimmy Buffett, great music to just relax and float too.

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, he turns the lake into the beach ....

Yep, if you have to have tunes on the water, Buffett and The Late Bruddah Iz are perfect.

Listening to Buffett on your boat, you can at least pretend you're at the Keys.

And that great-bear-giant Iz playing his Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World medley with his tiny Uke makes everybody smile. I miss that guy. If you've never heard of him, google him and check out that song.

I was down in OC MD in August and went to the Greek Festival at the Convention Center so I know about where you?re talking about.
It's funny because while in town I noticed that another Reggae artist "Eek a Mouse" was performing at some hole in the wall, too bad I didn't know in advance, I would have gotten some tickets.

Anyway I listen to all types of music and got turned on to Reggae while I was stationed in Germany when I was in the Army back in the late 80s and early 90s.
Strange how life experiences affect you even years down the road.

Right on. I grew up a headbanger but now enjoy MANY different genre of music.

Eek is awesome live, definitely see him if you get a chance.

Re: What Is Your Favorite Type of Music to Listen to While Cruising?

Have a stereo in the boat but it has been turned on 2 times this summer. Would rather hear the birds chirping, the squirrels barking, and the deer rustling through the woods while at anchor. Under way, it is just the wind, water, and horsepower! When we have had the radio on it has been mellow jazz or classical.

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, he turns the lake into the beach and my little girl (two years old) likes to dance the Hula to it while standing on the swim platform.

Just got one of his CD's while in Hawaii ... actually United does a "Halfway to Hawaii" quiz on the plane and I came up with an answer that was only 20 seconds off, so I won the CD. Glad we did.

Music at the dock, at anchor, and cruisin' alone. A mix of classic rock, James Taylor, John Prine, Jimmy Buffet...... OH, I almost forgot Celine Dion's songs from the movie Titanic. LOL

Re: What Is Your Favorite Type of Music to Listen to While Cruising?

I was just curious. I know I like listening to some classic rock, give me some Skynyrd, ZZ Top, George Thorogood (sp?), etc. It always seems to fit the mood. Any opinions?

Can't imagine wanting a stereo onboard, or rugs or furniture.

I go boating to get away from that .

Once people know you have stereo its only matter of time before someone shows up with some rap CD's.:eek:

I like just about everything except coutry and "sad, cry me a river, drink jim bean sitting on the porch with my 17 hound dogs" music.

I chose rap. If it was multiple choice, it would have been rap, rock, alternative.

!
Nothing but the pure sound of horsepower and wind while cruising and the sound of nature while anchored. :)

I want to hear what God intended for me to hear, not that crap that comes out of those people's mouths (supposed artists and musicians). Maybe, I'm just getting old.

I'm with ya Chief!

I'll second that. enough noise around. just the quiet woods, birds, a moose from time to time, and a fishing line! :D

Re: What Is Your Favorite Type of Music to Listen to While Cruising?

It varies for me. Sometimes I just like to listen to the engine and wind. Others I want some good classic rock, or some of the newer rock. When wakeboarding or skiing, we usually crank up the 850 watt sound system onboard, yes, with tower speakers. Some of ya'll would hate me, lol.

But you'd love me when the bikini clad cuties started dancing on the sand bar!
