I have a 1993 DT-200. It looks as is the water pump needs to be replaced. I am wondering how hard of a job it is and can it be done by one person? I am good with the tools and have a good mechanical understanding of how things work. Thanks for any advice. Joe

to get the lower unit off first find the shift rod pin remove the cottor key and pin remove the six bolts on outside of gear case remove the trim tab and they have one more bolt under trim tab and that should do it

I plan on getting the book, but it's a pretty easy job that one person can do?

Thanks. Any special tool I should be aware of before I start and is there any thing else I should consider replacing/servicing while it there? The boat/motor is new to me (first season), so I dont really know the service history.

go to bogueinletnc.com/yamaha and it gives detailed instructions with good photos showing step by step maintenance/repair proceedures including the water pump replacement. I'm certain it would be very helpful especially for an individual who has never tackled a job like that. there are quite a few details to know and learn regarding the water pump. I mean it's not brain surgery but it's not like changing a lightbulb either. Good luck!

I see this is for a Yamaha. I have a suzuki DT200. Do you if they are similar?

Thanks, Joe

well they have to be very similar, but it would be nice to find a site like that for specific Suzuki motors, just to be sure. Good luck!

Re: Water pump replacement- 1993 DT200

I have been told by numerous other boat owners at the marina (where my boat is at) that it maybe my thermostat and not the water pump. When I fire it up the telltale stream is intermittent with low pressure, and when no water is coming out, I feel air coming out.

My question-
What is the likely hood that it is the thermostat and not the water pump? And

Does a flat rate of $250, including parts sound fair. (My concern is if I try to relpace it and screw it up I will miss striper season and my wife will kill me). 7

Regards,
Joe
