I had purchased a 2006 islandia last year for about $36,000 new. It sucks up to many stuff because our lake is really dirty. My next boat i am going to purchase is a Malibu.

I was wondering how much i could sell my 2006 Seadoo Islandia for?

It has about 50 hours, every option in 2006, Double engine, and the Tower.

Thank You:D

Re: 2006 Seadoo Islandia.

The first year for dual engines, at 155hp each, the 2006 Islandia lacks horsepower and impellers foul easily.

2007 model saw an increase to 215hp per engine, nearly a 40% improvement from 2006. Savvy buyers are aware of these critical limitations of the 2006 Islandia which makes 2007 and later models fare much better as far as depreciation.

I've seen some 2006 Islandias selling for less than $10,000. Depending on the condition of your boat, I may know someone who might pay that or maybe a little more if the boat is in impeccable shape.

If interested, post a reply and let's see if we can hook up. Good luck.

Agreed on post above but there aren't very many savvy purchasers so you may get lucky - especially with jet boats :) which have a reputation for being mostly bought by newbies (who don't know any better than to stay away from these generally unreliable, parts eating, poor performing, "botes"). Yamahas are a possible exception as they hold value a little better than most.

I'd say post at $14k and take $10-12k. Might get closer to asking but nobody will even call if listed above $15k.

Nothing like adding a 20k+ to the cost of your next boat huh? Sorry.

Depreciation really sucks. This is why us cheap-skates don't buy new boats unless we plan to keep them for a long time. Much worse than cars. New boats are nice to look at, and nice to maintain, but the costs are something nobody really likes to talk about.

Just ask my dock buddy who is selling a 2007 Starcraft Nextar that he paid $45k for last summer (in 2008). Asking price is $30k and not one call. He owes about $27k.

NADA is already under $20k. Wonder why nobody is calling?

DEPRECIATION SUCKS !!!!

I know depreciation is there folks...but I think you should still get around high teens for this boat. While the 2007 has the higher powered engine, the twin 155s are the best engine combo offered by Seadoo. They are bulletproof and since they are not supercharged, they don't require being rebuilt every 100 hours. I love the Islandia and if it wasn't for the vehicle limitation, I would have bought one. Plus, I have an Utopia.

Don't give up on the Islandia...my lake is somewhat weedy too. You just need to not give too much throttle while it is in the shallow or weedy area. Another trick to unclog weed is to go full throttle and then yank the cutoff lanyard. It will surge the water and push the weed out.

i've seen the stats somewhere, but something like 50% of jetboat owners are moving from outboards/IO's, around 25% new, and 25% moving up from PWC's...

personally i've owned various types of boats, and currently have a 2001 sugar sand. It has a 2.5l 175 hp merc powerhead, IDENTICAL to a merc outboard, and is coupled to a drive system that runs circles around the reliability of an outboard. no transmission, no shifting or clutches, no waterpump to fail. It is vastly more reliable than any other outboard i've owned.

anyway, given that, i've never understood how people can say jets are unreliable. You either get a rotax power system which has proven itself, and is dirt cheap to replace an engine if you need to, or a mercury power system which is an outboard engine minus the complicated drive.

Also, if your lake is too shallow for a jet boat, getting around in a direct or V drive ski boat isn't going to be much easier.

Your weed problem won't go away with another type of boat. My buddy who has an outboard has to make sure that the it doesn't clog his line that provide water to cool his engine.

We are looking at an 2006 Utopia SE with the dual 155's. Do the Utopias have the same problems with fouling? I know it's much lighter so the power should be fine. One of the reasons were were looking at the boat was for the switch to clear debris. Does the system not work? What would you offer for a 2006 Utopia SE if it was in great shape? Or would you run away screaming? We are looking at a jet boat because we live in an area with a shallow cut that is just a couple houses down that takes us from our canal into the main bay. Without the ability to fit under that bridge we would have a 20 minute ride to get to the same area. We owned a boat many years ago but are starting over and don't want to make a huge mistake.
