finally got to take the motor out for a real good ride. about 6-7 miles today round trip. used about 3 gallons wasnt that bad.

im so glad i got to take this older gentleman out the boat bringed backed lots of memorys. its a 1962 orlando clipper i finally found out. he told that he bought it for 500 something and 66 cents. with a nice trailer 60 gale and red trailer.

only problem i had was in the begining when i cold started it the thing lean sneezed a bunch now i put stabil in before i turn the motor off about 3 weeks ago i last ran it. but it cleared out ran great.

and i got to get the prop rehubed bcause it would slip at high rpms but it was great

Being a 58 I think you could have adjusted the high and low speed needle valves for the right operation.

ya i already did

i have a question about the gas tank. now i filled the moeller 6 gallon tank to about 5.6 of gas and 1 quart of oil. then i picked the tank up and put it in the trunk then a big puff of air and gas came out of a part of the gas tank. where u plug in the hose theres a screw on cap and it leaks around there any thoughts?

using a moeller single line tank, i assume the motor has been converted to a fuel pump. as the original 58 35hp was a 2 line pressure tank system. it sounds like the seal is shot on the connector and the vent screw. may be time for a new cap new and connector, or just a new tank, and connector.

glad you got him on the water.

Yes, they went to fuel pumps in 1958. There may be some early models with pressure systems though.

Probably missing the rubber O-ring...did you have the vent all the way open? If it keeps leaking, as for a replacement.

Don't think so...if it has always leaked, may have come without one. If the vent was not open all the way, tank could have been seeping gas there from usual plastic tank expansion.

i dont know y its on a 14-15 foot boat 2 light guys 130 and 115 and a big 180-200 pound guy full tank of gas deep cycle batter few jackets in front rope and maybe 2 gallon gas can in back and a bucket of tools. probably was stern heavy. going about 3/4 5/8 throttle the whole way maybe some full throttle runs. then i basically high idled it back home still plowing mode.

its an orlando clipper 1962:D

whats the best gas mileage?

now i did have a spun prop so that maybe have contributed
