1976 40hp

I have rebuilt the carberator and the fuel pump but everytime I get on the water the motor will run fine for about 15 min at full speed but then it will stall out. Then I will not be able to get it up to full speed, it will only idle. I am not sure if I did something wrong. It will run fine then it will go downhill from there. It seems like it is starving for gas. Does anyone have any suggestions?

describe how it does not get up to full speed.

runs poorly at all rpm?
has good hole shot but dies at top rpm?

do you have an inline filter? it could be clogged...

When I first take the boat out it will run great at all speeds, but after about 20 min it will feel like it is choked up and will only run at half speed.

could be a bad coil stops working when it get hot

I did think about that it just slipped my mind, I feel like an idiot. Thank you for your help, my wife is sitting here with me laughing at me.

Well I thought that the vent not being open would fix it but thet was not it. I took it out today and it will almost get up to speed and plane out but it will just top out at that speed. I have tried everything that I know to do but I am stumped. Can anyone think of anything that it could be?
