So last week i was using my engine and hit a log pretty hard with the prop. The engine stopped and the flywheel seemed stuck and i couldn't get it started. I thought that I sheared the propeller pin so i opened that assembly and put in a new one even though the old one had not looked sheared. The flywheel then became unstuck and was free to move with my hand. As i went to start it this week the flywheel was able to rotate but got stuck at certain points. I eventually got it started and it ran for about 5 minutes. After running for about 5 minutes it dead stopped with a bang like it got stuck or something. There was no throttle decrease or anything leading up to it. The flywheel just stopped spinning. I then tried to move the fly wheel with my hand and it was stuck completely no way of getting it unstuck. The propeller however could still be moved in nuetral. Can anyone diagnose this problem? Thanks. Again its a 1980 Chrysler 6hp.

Have you pulled your flywheel to inspect it for damage the key could have caused? Could your magneto have moved from damage or shock and is causing the flywheel to be stuck? The bang might be indicating the timing has changed from damage or mag might have moved. Just a few ideas and Good Luck! Jow
