Canadian Tire will sell stick on letter and numbers in their boating section. That's all I've got on my boat for now. Not the prettiest, but I was not careful putting them on and they are perfectly readable.

Ministry of Natural Resources can tell you what size and where to place them. If you want them to look decent, any sign shop can run off vinyl letters, any size, any colour, that you can apply yourself.

What you are referring to is the vessel licence numbers. A registered vessel does not display numbers. The numbers must be a minimum size of three inches(7.5 cm), block letters and contrasting colour to the background. They must be mounted as far forward as practical, on both sides of the bow and where they are easy to see. Tell your friend to carry a copy of the licence aboard.

These are Transport Canada regulations.
