Is it a single engine ? If so go 2 marine offers a kit to change over to a rack system, If its a twin good luck As for just buying a cable im beginning to believe that they really are obsolete,e If you do find some one who has some or can remake some please let me know thanks tim24

To be honest im not sure, i believe the system im dealing with is called a over under system and it has the balls /clam shells but the cable is different I dont know if the system they have is adaptable , call go2marine and talk to Mike Weller A very nice man with a lot of knowledge, good luck were in the same boat ha ha tim24

If you/he has TrueCourse type steering (everything is inside the boat) then he's screw'd. If it's the "ball" type that exits outside the transom, then a new cable system plus an adapter kit is readily avaiable.
