Possible to rebuild my Johnson from L to XL length??

Im wondering if its possible to extend my Johnson Fast Strike 150hp V6 from 2004 which is a size Large to make it become a size XLarge.

Im very happy with the engine but its missing that extra 5" length to be optimal for my Renken Classic Cuddy.

Is there any rebuild kits available (and what cost), or is the only way around this problem to replace the engine?

Apreciate all your ideas and help.

(I am not interested in modifying the boat hull to lower the engine)

parts alone would cost
hundreds of dollars
water tube, drive shaft, shifter, and spacer will run 400ish at least
plus labor.
try and sell your motor and buy a new one

If you look on the crowleymarine.com web site you can see exactly what parts needs to be swapped. Driveshaft, shiftshaft, watertube, midsection, upper exhaust housing, etc.

For $150 you can get a manual jackplate, which can be used to lower the motor those 5".

i agree much cheaper and easier to buy a jackplate
xl shaft motors are hard to find in general let alone a 150hp, most people have 6-15hp kickers thatare xl shaft

Seems to cost 550 USD and assembly kit is not included in that price.

Check the web for Bay Mfg. They make inexpensive extension kits for newer engines. http://www.baymfg.com/Bombardier.asp
