I have a 1972 Ranger Bass Boat with a 90hp Mercruiser. I am in need of the upper drive unit, mine is junk. I have learned that the 90hp was only available in 1972-73. I would purchase the entire sterndrive, if I could find one. Please help. Thanks

it is listed in the mercruiser engine/drive model year reference.
i assume it's a Ren. (renault?) O'' 90?
the reference chart shows it appliciable in 70-72. it also shows up in service manual #1. for drive servicing. mercruiser 60-thru-165 and 888. maybe it's a 1 drive? if so. the way i get it is that 1 drive parts are mostly interchangeable thru alpha1. ??? no idea if that's true for a mercruiser 90 though.

Re: 1972 Mercruiser

It's not a 1 drive. The only drive used with the 90 was the 0 drive. The 90 was only available from Mercruiser from 70 to 72,
Very scarce. Welcome to the world of non-existant VERY old marine parts. Nothing available OEM, and basically nothing but tuneup parts for the engines from the aftermarket people.

Re: 1972 Mercruiser

Thanks for the help. Excellent fishing boat and Renault 4 cyl. has been extremely reliable. Hate to scrap her. Is there any other outdrive that will work with the little 4 banger? Or would it be cheaper to start hunting another boat. Thanks again.
