Re: Firts Boat! Please help! Gale Sovereign 35

Howdy,

This is my first foray into boat restoration as well as utilizing the advice of the many on Iboats.

I recently picked up a Gale Sovereign 35 as well. Mine runs pretty well and is actually pretty quick for such an old motor. I think you're gonna be pleasantly surprised by yours when you get it going. My boat doesn't have so many Gale gauges on the dash but it does have some Gale emblems. From what I've learned from my internet research on mine so far is that Gale partnered with Starcraft for my boat. Starcraft made a line called Ski Champ which is what I'm pretty sure mine is. Post your pics and I'll do the same so we can compare.

If you don't mind I'd like to follow along with you on your project in order to benifit from your experiences as well as the advice you receive.

Re: Firts Boat! Please help! Gale Sovereign 35

Well guys its official. I went down to Game and Fish today to get the title of the boat. I expected to get the run around or do mountains of paper work but it must have benn my lucky day. In about twenty minutes I walk out the door with the tiltle to Christy. The manufacturer is unknown so she is now a Gale, model:Christy. With title in hand i am now ready to begin the restoration. As soon as this posts, Im going to Kencook.com to order the service manual to my Sovereign 35. Will be starting a build along post to show the progress and of course ask all you guys for help, lol. Thanks in advance and stay tuned....

Chevydude, what state are you in? You sure wouldn't have pulled that off in FL.

Awsome! Follow anlong and maybe we can help solve eachothers motor problems. You said your gale came with a Starcraft so your boat is aluminum? Mine is fiberglass. Yes, getting the title was that easy. I figured it was going to be like going to the DMV and getting the run around but it was pretty darn simple. Located in Arizona where the only lakes are manmade and trust me, once I finally post some pics you would believe me when I say noone in the right mind would want to steal the boat I have lol.

Here she is. Christy. My first goal is to flip the boat paint the bottom and fix the trailer. Then pain the top and wok on the exterior. Since I plan on using it while the work is being done, I am consentrating on the boat itself and once it is usable for fishing with electric motors, I will work on the motor that is original to my 59' whatever she is. What do you think of her? Can anyone take a guess as to what it is?
