i just bought this motor. I had it out about 2 weeks ago and it started and ran ok. the only problem was when I went to full throttle it took a long time to open up and sound good (sounded like it was lugging for a while. after I got home I found the fuel tank breather was closed so I opened it and thought that was the problem. Today I took it out and it took a long time to start. when it did start it would run for a few seconds then die. I even opened the throttle a little and that didn't help. if I opened the throttle wide open with the motor running it killed the motor like I choked it out. I used my troller and fished for a few hours then tried again. it started a little better. then when I went to full throttle it was pretty doggy for a few seconds andthen sounded like it was running good.

The guy I bought it from works on boat motors and said he cleaned the points. I checked the plugs and they didn't look too bad, but I'll try new ones. any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Start with fuel delivery and carb cleanliness.
