i bought an 18 ft starcraft alum boat that i am restoring and it came on a heavy, crappy ( but solid ) home built trailer. i wanted a galvanized roller trailer and i got one for 400 bucks. the guy i bought it from said it is for 17-21 ft boats. he said that he had his 19' glass boat on it and he upgraded to an aluminum trailer. it looks like to me that there will be 2 or maybe 3 ft of boat that hangs out past the last roller. tell me what you guys think. here are some pics....

Looks like a good buy. Also looks like if you do not want that overhang off of the rollers at rear, you can move the winch tower forward about aa foot at least...

My trailer looks like an identical setup with the rollers. I have only a 16.5' boat, it is adjusted so that the last roller is only about an inch or so from the end of the hull. I am always afraid of jack-knifing the winch against my truck when backing up at a sharp angle. Having it back as far as possible and I can leave my tailgate down.

Yes, overhang would be an issue.

Get the boat on the trailer, in position so the transom is well supported - last roller about an inch or two from the stern.

Then move your winch post back, and adjust its height so that the bow stop roller is just above the eye on the trailer.

That trailer looks great Scott. Great buy for $400. Your boat should sit a little closer to the ground on that one making launching and retrieving easier.

With a roller trailer you want the last rollers directly under the transom. Move the winch post forward as far as practical and then move the tongue jack backward towards the "V" in the trailer. This should gain at least a foot and possibly more. You are always better off buying a trailer too long for the boat rather than one that is too short.
