new guy here who really need some help getting a mercury 1150 115hp to stay running, it will only start if i spray starter fluid into the carbs and will only stay running in neutral for about 10 secs but when i do start it and put it in gear it stays running until i put it back into neutral i have had the carbs cleaned, new gaskets replaced so i assume it might be the fuel pump also on the right side when you take the cover off the motor towards the top there's a place that a hose would go but it's been tap off, the hose is still there and it does have vaccum when its running and at the bottom there's a place where a hose would go and its not tap off and when you start it i see gas coming out of it, i know it sounds stupid but any help would be great i hate to just give up and sell it as parts

Should be a recirculation hose. A very small hose that puts additional fuel/oil to the top bearing. Just put the hose to each fitting top to bottom.
Post back what happens after you reattach the hose

Jack, That motor will have a small hose from the very bottom of the block to the very top of the block. Replace it if it is broken.

You might check the idle pickup timing on that motor. When the carbs just start to open, the timing should be 4-6* BTDC. Also, the idle stop screw above the distributor may be set a bit low, causing a stall at idle.

Jack, That motor has twin fuel pumps. That is what you are looking at. Each fuel pump has fuel in, fuel out and a pulse hose to the crankcase. Obviously the PO had some issues, since not all the hoses are connected. You might rebuild or at least inspect the fuel pumps..

As I understand it, those hoses with the crimped brass ends are hard to come by. You should switch over to standard brass nipples, standard fuel lines and hose clamps.

My previous advice was a bit off. Look up the fuel pump on the crowleymarine.com web site. It appears that the top fuel pump has the three fuel hoses, and the lower fuel pump has two hoses. Both are mounted on the transfer covers, which provide the pulses to operate them.

PLEASE stop using starting fluid!!! You can use an oil can with pre-mix in it. The starter fluid does not provide any lubrication and can harm the cylinder walls.

Yes it appears as if your pulse line is not connected.
