Hello all.. I just replaced the water pump impeller on my 77 Johnson 115 and noticed that the end on the right side water tube was bent. I straightened it out the best I could and slipped everything back together as well as possible.. Seems the tube is bent and mangled on the end and is a little bit shorter (1/4" -1/2") or so than the left hand water tube. Can anyone tell me if this tube will need to be replaced and if so, any ideas on how to go about it???? Thanks...

Confused here !! Twin motors ??
You say it is back together ?? How does it cool. how is the water flow and how are the head temperatures ??
Answering these questions will give you your answer.

Not twin motors...The engine has two water tubes..I changed the water pump impeller last night and not sure how the temp is. Gonna take it out today and see if it's pumping anything... I will let you know what I find out... Thanks

On your motor, the starboard water tube is the one that moves water to the engine, so it is the critical one. The port side water tube returns water to the water pump.

Re: Water Tube Replacement 1977 Johnson 115 V4

OK, just got back from the lake.. It ran fine this morning. It pumped a little water out of the exhaust ports, and seem to run fine. I parked it for a few hours, put it back in the water and within 60 seconds it ran hot as announced by the thermostat alarm....The starboard tube was the one that was messed up so maybe that is where the problem lies. Looks like I might just need to figure out how to replace them and tear into it.. Any ideas???
